So I am a little more than a week into my journey to better health. I've had some decent success to this point. I have managed to lose a little over 8 lbs so far, which means I am ahead of pace on my kick-start challenge. I joined Planet Fitness, and more importantly am taking advantage of my membership. Lastly, and probably the biggest change, I had an appointment with a new physician this week. I realize as I get closer to 50, I do need to start taking better care of myself. I am a new patient of Dr. Smith, and I feel good about that. She didn't rake me over the coals about not going to the doctor, but she was very upbeat, and positive, and she made me feel very comfortable. I am glad that I took the leap.
One thing that I read today went something like this. "Eating one salad will not make you thin. On the flip side, eating one donut will not make you fat." I see a lot of people getting discouraged when they are not seeing the progress that they hoped for. Changes don't happen over night, but if you do a little bit each day, eventually you will start having some success....as long as you are doing more things good than bad. So don't beat yourself up if things aren't happening as quickly as you would like them to, but at the same time be honest with yourself. Eat right.....most of the time, and don't be afraid to push yourself at the gym. You're probably capable of doing much more than you even realize.
I appreciate everyone out here trying to better themselves. Keep up the good work.
