I actually think that I (and my husband) eat really well normally. Just more than we burn.  That is one reason paying attention to my steps is important. My husband, about 7 or so years ago, had an issue with his eye exam which led to a morning blood check after a 8 hour fast and showed a morning reading of 253 (more or less) they prescribed insulin, I prescribed a lifestyle change.

Under the blessing of his endocrinologist we did.  He has never been on insulin, but does a daily morning blood check.  His was up for a few months!! and about 3 maybe 4 weeks ago, I put my foot down and back we went - NO BREAD, NO SWEET TREATS unless fruit. His numbers are back in the 95-112 range daily! (he is also upping his steps to keep up with my 10k daily challenge the 15k is to see if I can do it).

Another change we made about 3 years ago was to go vegetarian.  I am so over it! but he isn't. And the reason is he has a problem with low GOOD cholesterol that even a personal trainer daily for 2 years couldn't budge... but I will be darned (and very sad) that the vegetarian lifestyle hasn't RAISED his good cholesterol! just a couple of points but... still in the right direction... we eat cheese, eggs and fish along with fruits, vegetables and whole grains. SO..... I think my diet is ok... but my food intake to physical burn is WAY OFF.  I (and he) spends HOURS sitting at the computer normally.  Hardly any burn of what we consume!

Now I know i don't drink enough water normally.  Sometimes my morning coffee is my only liquid! So I am trying to keep a schedule times for drinking water.  But I have not been keeping track.  I am thinking of numbering glasses with painters tape??? I also have glass VOSS water bottles I could use, I suppose.

Any ideas?
