I didn't start out wanting to do a couch to 5k right now, but, it sorta has been thust upon me as a bit of a surprise!  I just want to lose 20 pounds by May 1st. (that should be MORE pounds as I have lost 20 pounds with Dietbet already! THANK YOU DIETBET!) But how? I mostly dieted the first 20 off.

Oh sure I have a fit bit and there were days where I was walking 15,000 steps. A few days. ok one or two.  And I did try to do 10,000 steps a day everyday. That lasted about a week. So mostly it was dieting.  BUT I knew I was gonna have to find daily exercise if i am going to reach my goal of, not just 20 pounds by May 1st, but 30 more pounds by August 1st!

I thought about it and I remembered that I used to do Walk Away the Pound videos. And I have a couple of the DVDs also. Now I also remembered that the first time I did the old 1 mile, I thought I was gonna die and it was only 18 minutes long! But I did it and I got my husband doing it with me and within a few weeks we were doing the 30 min 2mile vhs tape every morning and I was doing the 1 mile vhs at lunch each day at work!

I pulled out my old collection and thought.. what a bore!

I went onto youtube (( yes my couch to 5k is coming.... just keep reading)) On YouTube I search for Walking workout and there was a huge selection and I watch a few... from my couch! Eventually I got up and tried one or two.  This was a week or so ago... I my followers might remember that I recommended the 15minute interval.  I also found a Party song and Radio remix which have new actual songs like Dancing on the Ceiling and Don't Touch this.  But WOW they wore me out!

Back to my old and original stash and I pulled out the 5 mile dvd.  This was last.... Wednesday I think.  That is 6 days ago.  It was a workout that left me pooped and breathless, but I did it.  The next day I did it again. Friday we were backing but I did the first 2 miles and stopped sometime into mile 3 to pack and get ready to go, however I made an additional move in those 2 miles that left me feeling like I really worked out.  I 'jogged' the 2minute burst in a little lap I have made myself in our downstairs. Now when I say I jogged it, now just the 30 seconds that she does and then she goes into other moves, no, I jogged for 2 minutes.

Saturday, at my mother in law's, i went to her garage with my laptop and dvd, did the entire DVD (my husband joined me into the 2nd mile and completed to the end) and we jogged for each 2min burst around the garage. Red faced, sweaty and pooped again, but we did it.  There is a set she does called TapOut and frankly I must have 2 left feet b/c that really leaves me clumsy so I told him I was going to start jogging through the TapOuts as well as the 2 minute bursts at the end of each mile.

Monday I did this but only on miles 3 - 5.  Today, I when I did the DVD (both morning and afternoon) I jogged, my clumsy foot dragging jog, mile 1-5, each time she said 'now we tap" and the 2 minute bursts.  Counting that up, is 10 minutes of jogging in an hour just with the 2 minute bursts and I suspect another 5 mintutes or so of jogging b/c I can't 'Tap Out'!

If you look at a Couch to 5k schedule, I might even be ahead of the game! SURPRISE!!! I was also thinking that soon I might have to jog through the side steps also.  I also want to figure out a minute before each burst so I can add that in.

So for any old really out of shape ladies reading this, who want to run but can't ((or can't bring themselves to run outside)) think about how you can manage it INSIDE using any of a number of 'walking' videos available. Just start by replacing one move with gentle inside jogging and before you know it SURPRISE!!! You are half way though a COUCH TO 5K!!!
