I went back and forth of what Tip 3 should be. It was the chicken and the get thing, only with diet vs exercise and then I decided it was both, In the form of a plan! For me, planning is the key to success.
I have found time and time again, that I have my best diet days when my refrigerator is filled with serving size portions of food. And my cabinets! Did you know a serving size of Ritz Crackers is 5 crackers (70calories)? And that there 24 servings in a box? WHAT? I can eat half a box in less than an hours and give me a day and an unopened box and we will need to go back to the store tomorrow morning for another box! BTW, 70 calorie serving x 24 servings = 1680 calories. I don’t know about you, but I am gonna want some cheese on those crackers!!!
This is what I do now: A 16 ounce bag of baby carrots have 5 servings (35 cal a serving) . I get out five containers (plastic, glass, or ziplock) and I divide them up. I do the same with lightly salted almonds, although the 7 servings might go into 5 or 6 containers! I do the same with blocks of cheese, though that is always a 2 serving size! One serving of cheese is just too small! And 20 grapes fit nicely into my 1 cup containers and are only 100 calories! You get it. Everything is divided up into serving sizes.
Also, I have to plan to exercise. In the beginning I need accountability! I have a friend locally that will meet me at the YMCA anytime I ask, but it is up to me to ask! But this group has been excellent about accountability!
Now I admit that for the past 2 weeks I have gotten busy behind the computer and I have just not exercised! My fitbit weekly average is like 27,000 steps! When it should be 80,000 steps! I have to plan to exercise. I need to do it before I sit down on my computer to write! If I sit down, before I know it, six hours have passed, I haven’t eaten, I haven’t drank anything, but mostly I haven’t moved! And I am not moving I am not burning calories!
My husband likes the xbox and can build up a sweat from a couple of games. I am just not as into it as he is. I do like Lesley Sansone’s Walk Away the Pounds and for awhile there I was running (ok Jogging) inside each time she said “TAP OUT”. I have to get back into that!
ALSO planning, for me, is going to be setting a goal. I will run a 5k May 30th and I can barely walk 3 miles under an hour today! My goal is to do a 5k in 45minutes! I will make my goal by daily pushing myself. I need a plan!
I found this inspiring article on WebMd, http://www.webmd.com/diet/plan-day-lose-weight
NOW - What is your goal for this 28 days? What is your plan to reach that goal?
