  • Happy Wednesday! I hope you are having a great week so far!

    Today's habits are about productivity and focus, two things I struggle the most with! I feel like I have 5 things going on in my mind all the time and feel like I'm just treading water. I love the feeling of finishing things, but often get bogged down doing little bits of work everywhere and not getting a lot of satisfaction.

    The 30-minute "focus block" recommended here sounds like a great exercise! I don't know about you, but my attention span has suffered over the years. Taking 30 minutes to do anything sounds very hard! :D

    Please let me know in the comments how you feel about 30 minutes of uninterrupted focus!

    Day 3: Productivity & Focus

    Focus: Enhancing efficiency and concentration.

    Tasks:
    Continue Days 1 & 2's habits.
    30-minute "focus block" for a designated task (no distractions).
    Plan the next day's top 3 priorities.
    Tracking: track focus block time, and priority planning.

I didn’t time it, but I know it was more than 30 minutes. I usually like having the TV on in the background while I work, but I left it off today. It was much calmer.

  • Forming long-term habits starts with small changes. Let's try this two-day mini-challenge focusing on starting our day!

    Day 1:
    Wake up 15 minutes earlier than usual.
    Drink a full glass of water.
    Do 15 minutes of stretching or a light workout.
    Eat a healthy breakfast.
    Spend 10 minutes in quiet reflection or journaling.

    Day 2:
    Repeat the morning routine from Day 1.
    Try to incorporate a new element, like a quick yoga flow or a different healthy breakfast.

  • Hi Everyone! I am Laura, the host of the game, thanks to Starlight! Yay!

    Habits are such a great topic for a DietBet game! We all have them and sometimes they serve us well, while other times not so much!

    I thought it would be interesting to talk about habits we are hoping to gain and lose during the game. And hopefully longer! And when you list your bad habit(s), please share how you can improve them!

    I'll go first! I would like to gain the habit of consistently tracking my food. I can be a little loosey goosey with that habit and I know it's holding me back. I would also like to gain a better exercise habit. I am hit or miss and I KNOW the benefits! Ugh, why??

    The main habit I would like to lose is night time snacking. I can be so good all day, and then it gets to be after dinner, and I need a little something, and tend to not make the best choice. To improve this habit, I would like to make it a point to snack healthier in the evenings!

I struggle to exercise and to eat four servings of vegetables daily, and I would like those to be habits. Consistent exercise helps me control my appetite and vegetables fill me up. My worst habit is binge eating - usually junk food, although I have been known to do it with foods that would be healthy in moderation. If I exercise and pile on the fruits and veggies, I have fewer cravings, but I’m thinking about doing a cheat day once in a while so I’ll know that I don’t have to go wild when I have a treat.

Thanks for sharing, Starlight! When I'm on track with food I do designate Sundays as my treat day. It helps during the week! Knowing I can have that treat, just not now, takes that binge feeling away. :grinning:
