i used to feel the same way. just three weeks ago i decided i need to bite the bullet and start tracking for a little while. i was trying to adjust my macro ratios and i really needed an easier way to check up on that on top of the calorie total. i have to say, calorie tracking apps have come a LONG way and it has not been a pain at all. i read reviews on the popular ones and ended up going with "Lose It!" and really like it so far. you can create your own recipes and save them, you can look up foods, you can scan barcodes directly, and it tracks macronutrients. it syncs to other apps and devices, syncs to a computer, and isn't a battery killer. it is great!
