I make a protein shake once in awhile. Trader Joes has some really fair prices on some tubs of it. Milk also will give you some added protein. If my protein is low is have a glass at night. My new jam is blending smoothies with milk, half a frozen banana, ice, and powdered peanut butter post workout. Using unsweetened almond milk makes it only 150 calories too. And if I know I'm going to be active after work, i'll have a quarter cup of nuts or seeds around 3 o'clock to give me an added boost until I can eat dinner at 7 that night. And if you are relying on a more consistent scale number, I think taking a break from alcohol is a good idea. It's been about a week for me, and I've noticed a huge difference. It just sucks because I'm vacay and so far all I've don is go to the gym everyday and get a facial.
