I've been doing the Chis and Heidi Turbo Carb Cycling since my first db March 31. At first I lost quickly and easily. This type of eating plan has worked well for me. I had one week in early July when family was in town that I, after the fact, called a slingshot week, but really wasn't based on doing the 7 high carb days. I lost my first db during that week. But I wasn't upset, because I knew it wouldn't happen again, right?
I won my next bet by pushing myself to the limit and doing a juicing detox, though I didn't have anything to detox from. I didn't trust the process. Ultimate result, the following month I hit the dreaded plateau. For an entire month I went back and forth between 160-162. I'd let my body go into starvation mode, and though I was back on plan, nothing was working.
So, I finally did what the books told me to do: a true slingshot week. When I first read this I thought it meant 7 reward days. No. This time I paid attention. I did 6 hc days. (Still didn't trust the plan enough to do 7). I watched what I ate and didn't go crazy. I sacrificed another db rather than starving myself to try and force a win when my body was saying no.
On August 21 I was 160.9. The 22nd-27th was the slingshot and on the 28th I was 161.4. I returned to regular turbo cc on that date. Today, August 31, I weighed in at 157.1. 4.3 lbs down in 3 days!!! It worked! Who knew?
So what did I learn? Trust the process! It seemed so bizarre and counter-intuitive to think that eating more would help me lose more, but it did. It got my body back on track.
Ill never be a "hard body". Those days are long past, especially after 3 (and soon 4) surgeries in the area of my abdomen, but who cares? I have to remind myself that the ultimate goal is to find a healthy way to reach my desired goal--which is to be strong, healthy and in the normal weight category for my height and age. And do it in a way that I can maintain it when I'm done.
Yahoo! Maybe I'm finally learning what works for me!
