Fat as we know it can be quite simple when we think we just don't want it around our waist line. But fat in our diet can be more complex. Lack of fat leave brain function foggy and moods not well. So some minimal fat is definitely needed for many functions in the body mental, emotional and hormonal.
I have always been big on food combining and planning of meals. What this is *what I eat, what I eat it with, and when.*
Eating for stable blood sugar is important. This is achieved by proteins and fats and slow release carbs./sugars (fast release sugars are juice, sugar or even lower fat milk). Breakfast is important and sets your day. So choose wisely and include more protein than carbs. Carbs will fuel your day with the glucose they produce. Carbs are cereal, fruit, milk, yogurt and should be considered a sugar even if it may be slightly more complex a sugar none the less. Eggs are a fantastic choice anytime of day. A whole food packed with goodness. A ketosis diet is in carb deficit and runs on fat. Body fat your body now has to use for energy instead of sugar. This means you are burning through fat at a pretty good rate once your body switches over to this fuel. You benefit from clear thinking and energy without the sugar crashes, and well fat loss.
You can not have your cake and eat it too on a ketosis diet. Not unless the cake is carb free or at least under 9 carbs. A moderate carb and higher fat diet will give weight gain. So it can take at least 2 days to get back to being in ketosis. Once there is perhaps the better time to raise fats. Just don't attempt raising fat content with a * not low carb diet*.
On a ketosis diet a cheat meal can knock you out of the zone and you then would need to get back to the carb deficit again. This is not just in diet but stored Carbs too. So all Carbs need to be counted and tracked or the results can be disastrous.
An all or nothing diet. I chose yesterday extra veggies and half a banana in my shake. That is enough to break the diet (ketosis). Now I need to get back in the zone. Yes it will take at least 2 days. So not a good idea to eat high fat till there.
The exact opposite of this diet is a low fat diet. Usually with low fat and moderate Carbs. Do not attempt to blend the 2 diets. Infact on a regular diet completely avoiding Carbs when you eat fats can really help. The 2 really need each other to store fat. Excess calories will result in this storing fat too as well.
I hope this adds some clarification and deters anyone from casually using the high fat ketosis recipes in a diet that is not low carbs (under 50)
