To be honest, I think it sounds kind of gimmicky. But "cheat days" seem to work for some people. I don't do them as a plan, though I occasionally end up eating outside my calorie zone if I go out with family or something. I do eat out about once a week, but I try to stay within calories anyway. I do intermittent fasting, where I don't eat for 12-16 hours, which is pretty easy for me since I sleep 10-12 hours a day. I don't "diet", I'm transitioning into a permanent paleo-ish lower calorie forever lifestyle and I think that splurge meals just cause cravings and make me have to burn more calories.
