So true! Diet bet is just an added tool and motivation. Gotta keep going!

I seem to be doing well with my diet. I'm hoping it's sustainable. I wish I could get the exercise portion into habit

I started about a week ago after three failed attempts on my own to eat better and drop some weight. Accountability and money seem to motivate me. I’ve done several diet bets with fairly good results but seem to never keep it off. I know it’s lifestyle change, there is no finish line. What motivates you?

Love these responses! Be great to keep each other motivated.

Absolutely, Laurie! I agree with all of these things!

I will add that it's important to change our way of thinking about food. Food is fuel, not a reward.

The other big thing I learned is Practiced Procrastination. Be deliberate about everything you consume. And make healthy choices. Do you need the soft drink with dinner, or can you drink water?

You are an adult. You can eat what you want. No one is going to stop you. But ask yourself how badly you want that piece of candy on the receptionists desk. Can you wait 5 minutes before you decide to take it? 15 minutes? If you waited that long, can you decide you don't really need it? What about the cake at the office party? Or the mac and cheese at the cookout?

And if you decide you want these things, maybe take a smaller portion. Or if you're going to a party, bring a healthy option of something you love to share with others.
