The saying “EAT TO LIVE, DON’T LIVE TO EAT” usually keeps me on track. Thinking of it this way; that eating is how we survive and not what we should be doing for fun, makes it easier to eat less. I am trying to find fun and satisfaction in other aspects of life and have been on a journey of becoming closer to God. What do you do to stay on track??

I love hearing that! It is a feel good journey, and has only brought positive changed to myself and my life.

Try to find other things to fill my time. Remind myself that each pound of weight lost relieves 4 pounds of pressure from my lower back and leg joints. Think of my goals (feeling good when I walk, being able to play with my kids, maintaining my mobility as I age, being able to exercise if I want to without injuring my ankles). Food doesn't fill the void, it's just a temporary bandaid that can actually make it worse.

  • Now let the hard part commence 😅

I also want to add that I am proof you don’t HAVE to work out to hit your goals. I met my goal strictly based off my diet.

I’m also not encouraging not working out, if I had the time I would and it’s still part of my goal this year to get normal workouts in. But if your life doesn’t allow for it at the moment, like mine doesn’t, it doesn’t mean you can’t hit your goals.

I’m a mom to a toddler, a mom to a mini pig (our pet, Pixie which is like another toddler. Lol she’s so dang smart), a wife to a railroad worker which means I’m on my own 50% of the time as he’s gone for work a lot. I also work full time. Add in the responsibilities of owning a home, cooking, cleaning, yard work, etc. it’s a lot. I’m go, go, go from the time my feet hit the ground in the morning until I lay down with the toddler at night.

COULD I get up earlier to get a at home workout in or stay up later? Yes. But I also need rest and I know that. I need the appropriate amount of rest to be the best mom, wife, employee, rest for my health and overall wellbeing. Are these also excuses? Probably but THAT’S OKAY! So in short I just want to make the point that if your life doesn’t allow for you to get out of the house and to the gym or at home work outs it’s OKAY. YOU CAN still meet your goals. And if you’re a busy mom, single mom, mom and wife to a spouse who works over the road (or rails) I see you! I feel you! I am you! It gets overwhelming. You’re doing amazing. Keep showing up for yourself and your family! ❤

  • Well. Last weekend was my partner’s birthday so we celebrated (maybe a little too much, but nothing I couldn’t come back from). Then Wednesday came and we found out we lost someone we thought would always be there. Between the post-party blues and the deeper sadness I’ve had a hard time doing anything this week that wasn’t laying on the couch. Yesterday I went back to work after a week off and tried not to cry in front of customers. But it felt good to have something else to focus on. So this morning I got up early and did yoga. I’m reading a book and drinking coffee. I’m planning to get back into the gym next week. I’ve had a setback, but this isn’t over!

@Sarah M - I use the app called Lose It. I measure everything I eat with measuring cups and measuring spoons and then scan the barcode on the food packaging. It is SO helpful to learn exactly how much you should be eating and how easy it is to overeat
