Ok so I am wondering if any of you have tips on how to still lose weight while weight lifting. I havent been lifting and I have actually been losing weight but when I was on a regular regimen, I would usually gain like 10 lbs. Last year I gained 10 and kept it on all year while my clothes were becoming looser. I knew I was losing fat but the scale..
I never was able to make my diet bets last year because I would lift while doing them. Any insights would be helpful. I really want to lift again.

I am lifting now too, but I’m alternating lift days with runs or hikes on my treadmill. My pants are so loose so I know I’m dropping inches. Because I have 0.8 pounds to lose, this week I will just hike up steep inclines with a weighted vest instead of lifting just to make the diet bet number.

Then I’ll get the Hume scale that Ilana linked to so I’ll measure my success with body fat percentage lost and not raw numbers.

I'm also weightlifting and can only maintain or cut while doing it if I really Really stick to my low calorie goal and macros. Also professional bodybuilders don't stop lifting in their cutting phase so it's possible :grin: I can recommend the book ThinnerLeanerStronger for you that covers this topic in excellent ways

I just realized that the DietBet countdown says 7 days left but we have until the 19th so that’s more like 9! Come on everybody! We can do this!

After 1st starting DietBet 2 years ago in January. I got sooo close to my goal(a new goal that I had actually set for myself after realizing that so much more was possible for me!) but I never quite got there. I’ve been in my head and my weight went up just a smidge and I’ve been maintaining that but I know I can do this! This one gets me to about 4 lbs above my goal. I’ve lost the last 5ish DietBets I’ve done but Im thankful they did aid in my maintaining. I had a rough start to this one. I haven’t been active and involved in the group like I wanted to be. And then on Friday life dumped a load on me. But it also gave me a huge reminder to take care of me!

I am going to win this!

  • First time DietBetter here. I have been very consistent, working out 6 days a week at 5:45 am (except my weekend workouts I allow myself to take them anytime). I’m eating really healthy—like this roasted chickpea, Brussels Sprouts salad with spinach, pumpkin seeds, pomegranate seeds and delicata squash.

    I just finished a month long sugar cleanse (added sugar only, still eating fruit) during November so I’m not craving sweets anymore. Went to my daughter’s concert last night which ended with ice cream and cookies. I ate one bite of a cookie then held my hands around a big cup of tea.

    The scale doesn’t move much, but I feel great and know I’m building muscle. I am 50% to my goal and DietBet is really helping me stay on track. I won’t get discouraged. I can loose 3.4 more pounds in 2 weeks. Melting to happen any day now!!

Rose S, I’m kind of trying to keep up my sugar cleanse until Christmas but won’t be as strict with myself. My son wants to sugar detox with me in January, and my mom said she wanted to join in, too. Then my daughter said she would do it again (she lost 3 inches around her waist as is on Cloud 9) and I guess one of her friends wants to as well!! Lol #trendsetter

  • I woke up a lb heavier today, but I’m feeling optimistic. I did my thanksgiving 5K at my best pace! I was hoping for under an hour and I did it in 41 minutes! For me, that’s a huge improvement!
    This diet bet I’m focusing on more than just weight. I hope to hit my weight goal, but I am excited to meet strength goals too. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Me too! I’m trying to build strength with weight lifting and doing some physical activity every day. I’m usually alternating with cardio and weights, and will take a yoga class if my body needs rest
